Eildon pondage had a release of 25 rainbow and 25 brown trout ex brood stock averaging 4kg as well as rainbow trout @ gm, and there is another release Roach. Lake Eildon is home to a large population of roach, which breed naturally in its clear waters. Early and late in the day they can be amongst trout and carp feeding on the surface. A native of Europe, roach grow to about 45cm but are more commonly caught between 15 and 20cm. They are targeted by coarse fishers in Eildon fishing report. Eildon fishing report. Over the last week Lake Eildon has been fishing exceptionally well for trout, with some anglers reporting that they’ve managed to bag out. Flat line trolling is still proving the best way to go after the trout, with only a slight variation of lures required. Towards Goughs bay and the Big river arm small hard bodies Eildon pondage has been restocked once again with some very nice ex brood rainbow trout, and even with the irrigation allocation of 8, meg making the levels in the pondage rise and fall twice a day anglers are still having a win. The best rainbow reported this week went 11lb on a gold Kroc lure from the lower Eildon Fishing Eildon pondage is still fishing well for some anglers picking up their quota of large rainbows, although the strike rate has slowed a little and mixing it up and Redfin are usually caught in Eildon fishing vertically in trees. Take up a stationery position and fish in amongst the trees by dropping lures vertically down to them. The vertical approach relies on moving every 20 minutes or using a good sounder to find the schools in the first place.
