Mission: Improbable - Generic Subtitle Part One does several things right and a few things wrong. Rogue Nation should have been part two in the series. It feels so much more a continuation of the first part than most other parts in the series. Rogue Nation is an odd beast in that it adheres to, yet breaks away from, all ingredients that make up a Mission Impossible film. It has spectacular heist sequences, spectacular chases and fantastic set pieces. Right now, I'm enjoying the quietness of my house as the movie was action-packed, LOUD! I admitted beforehand that I could remember what all happened in the last movie, but I picked things up. In the beginning, I was trying to It’s so weird that the first two Mission movies are way more spy thrillers than they are action movies. The first proper action scene is like an hour 10 into this bad boy. It’s mostly people sneaking through hallways and opening compartments! Two big problems here: 1) I do not buy the Cruise/Newton romance for a second. They devote the first 20 minutes of this to A list of 6 films compiled on Letterboxd, including Mission: Impossible (), Mission: Impossible III (), Mission: Impossible – Fallout (), Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation () and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (). It doesn’t take long to recognize that “Mission: Impossible — Fallout” is one of the best action movies ever made. Some will see the light during the first act HALO jump, when Tom Cruise caps off an exhilarating long-take by leaping out of a C at 25, feet, aerial photographer Craig O’Brien capturing the stunt from the massive IMAX camera strapped De Palma. Woo. Abrams. Bird. Mission: Impossible has been moulded by these auteurs, and yet it is the most seemingly conventional director, Christopher McQuarrie, who is the only one to return for a second film. Mission: Impossible - Fallout shows us why. Christopher McQuarrie is an auteur in his own right, the only one able to truly nail a Watching this at home cannot compete with how well it plays with an audience but this is still one of the very very best of its kind. Would have been into a tv spinoff called The Kittridge Files.
